This is a unique private 18th century homestead of Bostonian ship Captain John Smith who planted a thousand acres of walnut trees along with ginger, Canary Island Date Palms and various ground covers. It is tucked within a gated 15 acre estate in the foothills near Carpinteria. It is surrounded by gorgeous gardens and 25,000 fragrant rose bushes which are part of a working rose farm (one of only two in the USA).

Full of old world charm, but with modern amenities, the 3-story home has been completely restored and boasts more than 7 bedrooms and 7 baths.

The second level master suite includes a bedroom sitting area, television and entertainment center, outdoor porch, and two large newly remodeled his and her attached baths. It features a full kitchen with breakfast nook and adjoining private patio and barbecue area. There is a large great room with dining and living room space and a library for quiet respite. There is an additional patio, a heated pool and spa with large lawn area and magnificent views of the rose fields.

The home comes stocked with continental breakfast and snack food items, coffees, teas, fresh farm produce, as well as beautiful bouquets of our fragrant European roses. High thread count hand ironed linens (along with housekeeping) provided weekly or as requested. This is a truly romantic venue for people who value serenity and privacy and could serve large groups for corporate and private events. The rental includes rose tour and lunch, scheduled Thursday and Saturday at 11am, or private tour of farm at your convenience (the private tour does not include lunch).
